Ali Astin is an American actress. She is the daughter of producer Christine Louise (Harrell) and actor Sean Astin.
Ali’s biological paternal grandfather was writer Michael Tell (the son of Jacob “Jack” Tell and Beatrice “Bea” Goldstein). Jacob was the son of Austrian Jewish parents, Joseph Tell and Dwora/Dora Goldstein. Beatrice was the daughter of Polish Jewish parents, Charles Goldstein and Bessie Fischer.
Ali’s paternal grandmother was Anna Marie Duke (the daughter of John Patrick Duke and Frances Margaret McMahon). John was the son of Irish parents, James Bartholomew Duke and Katherine/Catherine Ann O’Hara. Frances was the daughter of Michael J. McMahon, whose parents were Irish, and Hannah Engleman/Ingleman/Ingelman, who was born in Pennsylvania, to a father of German descent and an Irish mother.
Ali’s maternal grandfather was Frank Joseph Harrell (the son of Frank F. Harrell and Laverne Long). Frank was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Clyde Francis Harrell, who was born in Indiana, United States, and Emily Lilia Bulmer.
Ali’s maternal grandmother is Robina L. Schroeder (the son of Martin Edward Schroeder and Lois Emma Faulstich). Martin was the son of Martin Frederick Schroeder, whose parents were German, and Gertrude Nebelung, who was also of German descent. Lois was the daughter of Walter Albert Faulstich and Bertha M. Ringer, and had German, and some English, ancestry.
