Dick Marx was an American jazz pianist and arranger. He was the son of Victor Emanuel Marx and Helen Golden. He was married twice, including to Ruth Jeannette Guildoo, with whom he is the father of musician Richard Marx.
Dick’s paternal grandparents were Emanuel Marx (the son of Mayer/Meyer Marx and Fanny Reinhard) and Agnes Isaacs (the daughter of Joseph Isaacs and Annetta, likely Weis). Emanuel was a German Jewish immigrant from Frankfurt. Joseph was a Jewish immigrant from England. Annetta was an American, who was also Jewish.
Dick’s maternal grandparents were Adolf Golden and Sarah Meserow (later Messer, the daughter of Joseph Meserow and Ella Fuchs). Adolf and Sarah were Ukrainian Jewish immigrants, from Kiev.
