Both of his parents were/are of three quarters Irish descent. One of his maternal great-grandfathers was an Austrian Jewish immigrant. The remaining one eighth of his ancestry is English, with more distant Dutch and French.
Zach’s paternal grandparents were John Edward Galligan (the son of James Thomas Galligan and Ellen O’Donnell) and Katherine Lauretta Turbush (the daughter of James Henry Turbush and Rose Frances Mallon). James Galligan was born in New York, to Irish parents. Ellen was Irish. James Tarbush was born in Connecticut, of English, and more distant Dutch and French, descent. Rose was born in Pennsylvania, to Irish parents.
Zach’s maternal grandparents were Albert Joseph Wolfe (the son of Charles Ignaz Wolfe and Mary Leahy) and Harriet Muriel Brady (the daughter of Charles Augustus Brady and Harriet C. Foley). Charles Wolfe was an Austrian Jewish immigrant. Mary Leahy was of Irish descent, the daughter of Patrick Leahy and Hannah O’Neill. Charles Brady and Harriet Foley were both born in New York, and all of their own parents were Irish.
