Ed Asner was an American actor and voice actor. He was President of the Screen Actors Guild, from November 3, 1981 to June 20, 1985.
Ed was the son of Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Seliger) and Morris David Asner. He was raised Orthodox Jewish in Kansas City, Kansas. His father was originally from the village of Nacha, outside Eišiškės, Lithuania. His mother was born in Russia. He had three children with his former wife, Nancy Sykes, and a son with his former partner Carol Vogelman.
