Eric Newman is an American film and television producer and writer. He is known for being a showrunner of television series Narcos.

His father is American Jewish singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, and pianist Randy Newman. His mother was a German emigrant, from Düsseldorf. He is married to Dana Stewart, with whom he has one child.

On his father’s side, Eric is a first cousin, once removed, of prominent composers and musicians Thomas Newman, David Newman, and Maria Newman, and a great-nephew of composers Lionel Newman, Emil Newman and Alfred Newman.

Eric’s paternal grandfather was Irving George Newman (the son of Michael Nemorofsky/Newman and Luba Koskoff/Kosakoff). Irving was born in Connecticut, to Russian Jewish parents. Eric’s great-grandfather Michael was born in Yelets, Gorod Yelets, Lipetsk Oblast, the son of Michael Nemorofsky and Luba Garfosky. Luba was born in Elisavetgrad, the daughter of Lewis Koskoff and Rossa Shapiro.

Eric’s paternal grandmother was Adele Fuchs/Fox (the daughter of Gustav/Gustave Fuchs/Fox and Regina “Rose” Ringer). Adele was born in either Louisiana or California, to parents from Galicia, Austria.

Eric’s maternal grandfather was Heinz Adolf Schmale. Heinz was born in Düsseldorf, Germany.
