Yung Lean is a Swedish rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is widely recognized as one of the most influential figures in the early cloud rap era. He gained prominence in 2013 with his song “Ginseng Strip 2002”, which went viral on YouTube. Later that same year, he released his debut mixtape, “Unknown Death 2002”, and the following year, he released his debut studio album, “Unknown Memory”.
His father is a Swedish translator Kristoffer Leandoer, who was born in Stockholm, Sweden. His mother is a Swedish diplomat Elsa Håstad. Jonatan’s maternal grandfather is named Arnold Wesker, he was an English dramtist born in Stepney, London, United Kingdom. Jonatan’s maternal grandmother is named Disa Håstad and is Swedish. Arnold’s father was Joseph Wesker, a tailor’s machinist and active communist who was of Russian and Ukrainian Jewish descent. Arnold’s mother was Leah (née Cecile Leah Perlmutter), a cook born in Transylvania to Hungarian Jewish parents.
