Lapo Elkann is an Italian entrepreneur. He is the the brother of industrialist John Elkann, the current Chairman of FCA (Fiat Chrisler Automobiles).
Lapo is the son of Italian parents, novelist Alain Elkann and Margherita Agnelli, a member of the powerful Agnelli family. His father is Jewish and his mother is Catholic.
Lapo’s paternal grandparents were Jean-Paul Elkann (the son of Armand Elkmann and Berthe Bloch) and Carla Ovazza (the daughter of Vittorio Ovazza and Olga Cinci Fubini). Jean-Paul was a French banker, born in Paris, France, to a Jewish family. Carla, who was an Italian Jew, was a member of the influential Ovazza banking family, based in Turin, Italy.
Lapo’s maternal grandparents were the famous industralist Giovanni “Gianni” Agnelli (the son of Edoardo Agnelli and Princess Virginia Bourbon del Monte) and Princess Donna Marella Caracciolo di Castagneto (the daughter of Don Filippo Caracciolo, 8th Prince di Castagneto, 3rd Duke di Melito, and of Illinois-born Margaret Clarke). Lapo’s great-grandmother Princess Virginia was the daughter of Carlo Bourbon del Monte, 4th Prince of San Faustino, and of New Jersey-born Jane Campbell (who was the daughter of George W. Campbell, Jr. and Virginia Watson). The “Campbell” line can be traced back to George Washington Campbell, who was born, c. 1769, in Lairg, Sutherland, Scotland.
