Pete Burns is a British singer, songwriter, and television personality. He was vocalist and songwriter for the band Dead or Alive, who are known for their 1985 single “You Spin Me Round”. He also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2006.
Pete is the son of Evelina “Eva” Maria Bettina Quittner Von Hudec and Francis Burns.
Pete has said that his mother was of half Jewish ancestry (through her own father). Pete’s mother left Nazi Germany after Hitler’s government imposed anti-Semitic laws upon the country. She met Pete’s father in Vienna, Austria, where he was a soldier in the British Armed Forces. Given the surname “Burns”, he likely had Irish ancestry.
Pete’s maternal grandfather was Hugo Quittner.
